Another Celebration of Life

Posted on January 12th, 2024

There was a huge turnout at a local club for my dad’s Celebration of Life gathering. It was an amazing afternoon, with quite a crowd. We laughed at all the stories, as Dad was always quite a character. I was very lucky that he chose to be my dad. He is already missed but I'm grateful that he’s out of pain. I love you, Dad!

The first five grandchildren—a few from out of state—came out to celebrate their poppy’s life. For most of their childhood, these five spent the winter school breaks together with my parents on Maui. Ten years ago, we all cruised the Mediterranean together for two weeks, honoring my parents 50th anniversary and the cousin bonds deepened.

Now, they’re all college graduates and working adults. It's extremely rare that they’re all in the same place at the same time. There are two more niblings but they were too little to attend (a preschooler and an infant). I’m looking forward to watching them grow up too.

So now, the new year really begins. I’m having Ueni put together a new website for my artwork. I’m consulting with them next week and am excited that I don’t have to struggle with computer technology. I finally solved my issues with WordPress and am not moving this blog anywhere new. Later this month, some of my art will be on display in San Francisco. Now that I am not absorbed by as much stress and sorrow, I will review the information and such.

I’m happy with this new canvas. I splurged on some Hedgehog Fiber mini skeins and can’t wait until they arrive to finish this. I did receive the yarn from Temu. It's not as exciting as Hedgehog or as fun but it’s always good to have more yarn to choose from. I have everything I need to create the “Suzy Myers/Alex Borstein” canvas. I will be starting that in the next few days.

Take care!
